It’s Going to be a Baby Girl!

Over spring break, Britain and I found out we’d be having a little girl. We are very excited! It’s such an amazing feeling to see the little person through the Ultra Sound.

After that, we started planning what we were going to buy. All along we planned on getting gender neutral “big items” like the car seat, crib, and the likes. We spent a Saturday driving to an amazing sale at Burlington Coat Factory. They have their Baby Depot where lots of good baby stuff is sold. There is a line or pattern of Graco stuff that was ending. We saved hundreds on the whole deal. We got a car seat, swing, high chair, and stroller. They all match too! Its a small thing that I’m sure isn’t a big deal for those with numbers of kids but this is a small landmark in our lives that I’m enjoying. Being dirt poor isn’t as enjoyable but that's another story.

We met up with my folks and went to Babies“R” Us to shop around. They ended up buying a crib and changing table with a great deal. It’s themed with Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Bear. Cute as can be! Life is good and I’m looking forward to the coming months!

Our Trip Home – For Real

So here is an updated version of our itinerary home. Yeah, it doesn’t match the original plan. Unfortunately, we didn't plan well with Temple closings and such so we didn't hit a single temple…sad. We obviously stopped for gas and such…mostly at Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart.  We got an automatic 5 cents off at Sam’s Club and 3 cents off if we paid with a Wal-Mart gift card. Generally both were the cheaper choice across the country.

Good news: it cost almost a quarter of what it cost to get there compared to this trip home! Hurray!

A: Our apartment in Florida
B: A hotel at about 1/4 of the way home
C: A hotel at about 1/2 of the way home
D: A hotel at about 3/4 of the way home
E: My family's house for the night (only 94 miles to go!)
F: Finally in Logan!

We got lost outside Birmingham, Alabama. Brought a whole new meaning to the term “redneck”.

We are glad to be home. It’s been good to see family. We love the mountains and miss how beautiful they are. While our bodies may have been in shock near the beginning, we actually have enjoyed the cold weather so far. Real snow was nice. We saw artificial snow at Disney World but that’s just not quite the same (amazing engineering feat, but that’s another story).

Introducing my Husband, JP.

I got this from Dana's blog. I decided that nothing had been posted on our blog for a long time and I didn't know what else to post, since my life is rather uneventful, and this looked fun.

1. Where did you meet your husband? The Wonderful Snow College Pool.

2. How long did you date before you married? Date? Well from first date to walking out of the temple was 4 months, 3 days.

3. How long have you been married? 1 year, 4 months, 9 days.

4. What does he do that surprises you? He likes to surprise me all the time. He'll go out and buy something cute and little for me, or tell me we're going somewhere special all the time. And then he won't let me know what he bought or where we're going, so he can watch me in my suspense. I'm horrible with surprises, I'm too curious. But it's always so cute and sweet, and I love it. He is just always doing this thoughtful little things. For instance, my name tag at work broke, so he went out and fixed it, actually he upgraded it, so it won't ever break again now.

5. What is his favorite feature? His favorite feature that he likes about himself? I don't know, but I'm going to say his eyes, because he likes my eyes and his are almost identical.

6. What is your favorite quality of his? Refer back to question 4. I love that he is always so thoughtful and caring.

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Not really, we call each other Love.

8. What is his favorite food? Steak, like most guys, and fish and other seafood, especially sushi, and anything containing lots of peanuts.

9. What is his favorite sport? Swimming and Water Polo. That one was easy!

10. When & where was your first kiss? April 28th, on the day after Sadie's date (Sadie's oddly, was on a Friday so it was hard to do something on the day). It was in the parking lot, kind of in Sariah's car, outside of the roller rink.

11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? My favorite thing, is to talk and cuddle.

12. Do you have any children? Nope, but someday. For right now, we'll just claim Kaden, since I have more pictures of Kaden than I do my husband.

13. Does he have any hidden talents? He has lots of talents, but I don't know if any off them count as hidden. He knows everyone! We can't go anywhere, even in Florida, without someone coming up to say hi to him.

14. Who said I love you first? This is debatable. I think it's me. See we have this thing, that both are parents taught us, where if you squeeze their hand three times it means "I love you." And I did it, and then he did it back. We went for quite a time not sure if the other meant it as "I love you" or not. Then one night I did it, and he said, "Do you really?" Which caught me really off guard, I stammered for a few minutes and then said, "You know what that means?" After we'd clarified that we both knew the meaning of three squeezes, which our parents taught us. I said, "Yes, I do." And then we decided we should get married. Yep, the same night.

15. What is his favorite music? Oh darn it. I don't know the different genres of music very well, so I can recognize it, but I'm not sure what it's called. Alternative punk/soft rock? I don't know. He also loves soundtracks. He has the soundtracks to everything.

16. What do you admire most about him? Isn't this the same as question 6? In which I answered how thoughtful, caring and sweet he was. Well to answer differently, I really admire his spirituality. After being married a year, yes I realize he's human, and his spirituality has it's ups and downs, and that we have different spiritual strong points. But I've always had, and always will admire how the gospel means so much to him and is the center of his life. I means a lot to me that he is a worthy priesthood holder and I know that I can ask for a blessing at any time and he will be ready. However, the aspect I admire most is his faith. He always knows that God is guiding our lives as he sees best, and that it will be for the best.

17. What is his favorite color? Blue and green, oh and also purple and red, lightsaber colors, that's what he says when you ask him. He also says that amongst those he doesn't have a favorite. However I think he likes blue over the others, because whenever he asked to decide what color something should be, or what color he is going to get, he gets blue, and generally navy blue.

18. Will he read this? Yes. And he'll probably do it for me as well.

19. Who do you tag? Anyone who really wants too.

I love you JP! I hope I wasn't wrong on too many of them.
